Building the Fort: Episode 1

How did you get into real estate?

I first got started in real estate in 2005 during my Freshman year at TCU. I had come from an entrepreneurial background in high school and met Adam Blake, who taught me how to buy rental houses.

He was buying rental houses and I was really enthusiastic about it—I thought it was crazy that a guy who was 18 years old could buy them. He taught me how to buy and I read some books, figured out what I wanted to do, found a house, went through that whole deal, and bought a house in May of 2005.

I rented it to TCU students and the rest is history from there.
