Chris Powers, Jr.
Founder / CEO
Chris is a serial entrepreneur with more than 14 years of real estate development and investment experience and has raised more than $80 million in equity financing through a multitude of high net worth and family office partners. To date, Fort has invested and developed over $250M in multifamily, student housing, commercial/industrial, and residential & land development projects throughout Fort Worth and the state of Texas. Chris is a visionary with a demonstrated talent in looking ahead at what could be and understanding what must be done today to get there. His ability to conceptualize, raise capital, and execute are only a small part of what Chris brings to the table.
Chris oversees the vision for the company, Fort’s largest deals, capital relationships, executive level recruiting, strategic partnerships, and chairs the investment committee. Creating meaningful relationships and building a team around a vision and Fort’s goals are the most important qualities that make Chris ready for the job. With a belief that investing time in people is the best investment that can be made, Chris has built a strong network throughout Texas that has helped catapult Fort to where it is today. “I want to build a culture that fosters creativity and creates leaders. Powers graduated with a BBA in Finance & Marketing from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. Innovative, ethics-driven, people-focused, community-minded and passionate about ideas that matter, Powers’ professional philosophy remains the same as his personal one: “Tell the truth and be nice to people.” Chris is a member of the Forbes Real Estate Council and Fort Worth YPO Chapter. He lives in Fort Worth, TX with his wife, Mikal, and their daughters, Palmer and Connor.
President / COO
Jason Baxter joined Fort Capital in 2015, bringing more than 19 years of DFW real estate industry experience, an acute passion for entrepreneurship and a vision for transforming big ideas into reality. In addition to being President and Chief Operating Officer, Jason serves as a member of Fort Capital’s Investment Committee. As Chief Operating Officer, Jason oversees all of Fort Capital’s land development, land acquisition and planning, financial analysis, modeling and deal structure, operational process development, construction, market research, due diligence/feasibility of projects, and municipality relationships. In addition to his role at Fort Capital, Jason also severs on The City of Fort Worth’s Development Advisory Committee, Urban Infill Development Task Force, and the Mixed-Use Zoning Advisory Group.
Jason developed his skills and knowledge while working for David Weekley Homes before joining Fort Capital, where his positions included senior sales manager, construction manager and ultimately operations manager for the Fort Worth Area. During his career, he has managed the development and sale of real estate assets totaling more than $140 million.
Outside the firm, Jason volunteers for RiverTree Academy and serves as a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). An entrepreneur himself, he and his wife, Charlene, own and operate Glamour Paws pet grooming boutique. Jason and Charlene live in Fort Worth and are proud parents to their son, Austin.
Chief Accountability Officer
Jenny Halford joined Fort Capital in 2017, bringing more than 18 years of commercial and residential real estate experience to the Fort Capital Team. As Chief Accountability Officer, Jenny is responsible for delivering operational excellence, driving expense reductions, strengthening Fort Capital’s internal systems and processes, assisting in execution of the Fort Capital vision, and ensuring that accountability and responsibilities are clearly defined and on track. Jenny will be guiding overall company goals for performance and growth while encouraging maximum performance and dedication. She will continue to participate in expansion activities, including investments, acquisitions, and dispositions.
Jenny gained a vast amount of skills and knowledge while working at BBVA as Vice President, Branch Retail Executive for nearly eight years. While there, she led a staff of twelve and multiple external partners. Following her time at BBVA, she focused on product development as Assistant Vice President, Project Manager at Omni American Bank. Over the course of her career, she has gained certifications in Extraordinary Sales Leadership/Proactive Relationship Building with Cohen Brown Management Group and Peak Training – Small Business Relationship Building with St. Meyer & Hubbard. Jenny also completed training courses with Pelmetta Performance Solutions on Communication with Diverse Personalities and Groups, Developing Lifetime Customers I & II, and Leadership and Coaching. Jenny also holds her Real Estate license.
Outside of the office, Jenny and her husband, Ken, enjoy traveling abroad, experiencing different cultures, and spending time with their four kids attending sporting events.
Vice President of Finance
Ryan Hessing joined Fort Capital in December 2019, bringing 10 years of accounting and finance experience with 6 years of real estate investment experience. Ryan oversees Fort Capital’s accounting and finance functions, including financial reporting, investor reporting, and debt and equity deal structuring. He is also a member of Fort Capital’s Investment Committee.
Prior to joining Fort Capital, Ryan worked in EY’s Transaction Advisory Services group where he led teams providing merger and acquisition advisory services to private equity and strategic investors focused on the real estate, hospitality, and construction industries. Transactions included asset-level acquisitions and divestitures as well as operating platforms. Ryan has advised clients on transactions with enterprise values ranging from $50 million to over $6 billion. Previously, Ryan worked in the Transaction Advisory Groups of Duff and Phelps and KPMG providing merger and acquisitions advisory services. Ryan also spent time working for a high net worth family in Fort Worth, TX where he advised management teams of companies owned by the family, identified high risk areas of the business, and developed and implemented operational and financial strategies to improve overall performance.
Ryan graduated with a B.B.A. in Accounting and a Master in Accounting from Texas Christian University. Ryan is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas. Ryan lives in Fort Worth with his wife, Natalie, and their daughter, Mimi.
Vice President of Investments
Hunter Harrison joined Fort Capital in January 2018, bringing 7 years of commercial real estate industry experience. Hunter oversees Fort Capital’s Investment Team, identifies potential new investment opportunities, and serves as an advisor to the Asset Management Team.
Prior to joining Fort Capital, Hunter lived in Dallas, Texas where he worked for CBRE’s Institutional Properties Group focusing on Industrial and Office Investment Sales. Hunter was a crucial member to CBRE’s National Partners, a National Industrial Platform which successfully closed $40 billion of industrial real estate transactions during his time there. Prior to working for CBRE, Hunter began his real estate career at Invesco Real Estate. While at Invesco, Hunter worked in their real estate valuation team as a financial analyst where he was responsible for the valuation of Invesco’s industrial, office, retail and multi-family assets.
Hunter graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. majoring in Agricultural Economics with an emphasis on Finance and Real Estate. Following his undergraduate work Hunter remained at Texas A&M to further his education where he received his Master in Real Estate from Mays Business School.
Hunter lives in Fort Worth with his wife Katie and daughter Hattie, and enjoys snow skiing, fishing, hunting and golfing.
Liz joined Fort Capital as Controller in June 2017 bringing a wealth of accounting and legal experience to the team. Liz received her BBA in Accounting and Juris Doctor from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Forensic Accountant with years of experience in tax and finance in the telecommunications industry. Liz spent 7 years of her career in commercial lending managing a loan portfolio of over $50 million in residential and commercial real estate. Additionally, Liz has significant legal and forensic accounting experience in personal and business partnership disputes.
Outside of the firm, Liz spends time volunteering for the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, building homes as a Core Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, and serving as a child advocate for Dallas CASA. She lives in Las Colinas with her husband Robert and their two dogs, Maggie and Madison. They have four grown boys who live in the DFW and Austin areas.
Director of Property Management & Construction
Steve Bailey joined Fort Capital in January of 2019 as Director of Construction and was promoted to Director of Property Management & Construction in January 2020. He oversees all construction activities, as well as working closely with the Development and Asset Management teams. Steve is responsible for executing all critical business plans and ensuring superior service for our 300+ tenants.
Steve graduated with a B.B.A. in Management from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has been in the construction industry for 16 years, first starting his career as a Warranty Manager for Kimball Hill Homes. He quickly moved through the ranks and was promoted to lead Construction Manager.
In 2008, Steve made the move to David Weekley Homes where he held multiple roles including Senior Builder, Quality Coach, and ultimately Operations Manager. As Operations Manager, he was able to build cross-functional teams in sales, construction, and warranty to increase efficiencies and lower project costs. Steve was at David Weekley for 10 years before he joined Starside Custom Builders as a Project Manager specializing in luxury estates. While at Starside Custom Builders, Steve managed a variety of multi-million dollar projects from the architectural phase to closing.
Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife, Valerie, and their two children.
Director of Technology
Greg Adams joined Fort Capital in June 2019 as Director of Technology, where he is responsible for the planning and execution of digital strategies. He brings a love for new technologies such as cloud computing, blockchain, and machine learning to Fort Capital’s platforms, as well as years of experience in the finance and construction industries.
Greg began his career in mortgages at one of the largest non-bank servicers. While there, he facilitated the work of hundreds of individuals across the globe with database systems and supported divisions through the company’s IPO and quadrupling in size, with assets exceeding $200 billion.
In 2014, Greg left to pursue an interest in green building and joined Tempo, Inc., whose subsidiaries TexEnergy and US-EcoLogic boast the title of largest LEED for Homes providers. Tempo’s energy rating businesses span across the globe, with satellite offices around the United States and projects reaching as far as the Middle East. As Director of Business Information, he designed and built one of the most powerful cloud-based data systems in the energy rating industry. Built on top of the Google Cloud Platform, Tempo’s data platform connects 100,000+ field data collection points to internal office processes and external partners’ systems daily. Additionally, Greg served on Tempo’s Board of Directors, assisting with broader corporate strategy and conducting leadership workshops and technical training boot camps for data analysts.
Greg graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Texas and completed two study-abroad courses in India and Ghana. He enjoys road tripping, camping, playing guitar, and spending time with his wife and two rescue dogs at their Oak Cliff home.
Director of Marketing
Abby Robinson joined Fort Capital in February 2018 as our Director of Marketing. Abby has a passion for creating meaningful relationships between companies and communities. She leads all marketing efforts, including brand strategy, content development, social media, website management, development/property marketing, and public relations.
Prior to joining Fort, Abby worked as an Account Manager in New York City at several award-winning advertising agencies (mcgarrybowen & DigitasLBi). She gained a breadth of experience developing fully-integrated marketing campaigns with a digital and social focus for brands including American Express, L’Oreal, JPMorgan Chase, and Pier1 Imports. After five years of ‘city living’, Abby decided to make the move back to Texas to work at Southwest Airlines on the Marketing Communications team, and ultimately helped found their Brand Strategy team, bringing with her a driven, strategic, and results-oriented approach.
Abby is a graduate of Texas Christian University with a BBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Management. She is a member of the Junior League of Fort Worth and a TCU Neeley Alumni Executive Board Member. Outside of the office, Abby enjoys spending time with her husband, Andrew, family and friends, and exploring Cowtown.
After developing a great working relationship with Fort Capital, Shana joined the team as a Project Coordinator in February 2016. She was quickly promoted and has served as Development Manager and Director of Development in her time with Fort. Shana has led efforts including developing our transaction desk, managing insurance, taxes, and development projects, developing relationships with city officials and community leaders, construction, technology initiatives and more. In her current role as Executive Coordinator, Shana is responsible for filtering and managing executive projects and initiatives, management of the CEO/COO’s time, and activities to ensure high value time utilization in relationship to external and internal requirements.
Shana began her career in banking 14 years ago as a teller with EECU. In banking, she occupied a few roles until finding her niche in commercial banking. She developed a passion for real estate in her primary role as a commercial banking lending assistant. Shana’s background aided in developing strong organization and people skills which led to a management role with BB&T.
Shana has a passion for helping other. She loves photography, fishing with her husband, and spending time outside with her two boys, Ian and Bryce.
Corey Price joined Fort Capital in July 2019 as an Asset Manager, bringing multifamily, industrial, and office asset management experience to the Fort Capital Team. Corey oversees a growing portfolio consisting of multifamily and industrial assets.
Corey began his real estate career working with a single-family home builder, Veritas Homes, where he managed construction processes from permitting to closing. After two years at Veritas, he transitioned into commercial real estate with Trimont Real Estate Advisors in Atlanta, GA. While there, he gained experience working on both debt and equity deals. His equity portfolio consisted of 10,000 multifamily units, 1.2M square feet of industrial, and Class C Office in downtown Atlanta.
Corey is a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a B.B.A. in Managerial Finance. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Noelle, and their Golden Retriever, Goose. He is an avid tennis player and also enjoys golfing and hunting.
Chris Wu joined Fort Capital in July 2019 as an Asset Manager, bringing with him 9 years of experience in multifamily acquisitions, development, and investment sales. His passion for real estate has carried him into principal investing, which drives his curiosity of new markets and product types.
Chris began his career underwriting institutional-grade assets for sale on behalf of large pension funds, REITs, and sponsored capital groups. From there, he participated in equity placements towards major DFW projects near AllianceTexas and the George W. Bush Presidential Library, among other investments throughout the metroplex. His most recent experience in affordable housing development and management rounds out his capacity for major real estate functions.
Chris is a graduate of the USC Marshall School of Business with a B.S. in Finance. In his spare time, he enjoys producing music, spending time with family and friends, volunteering, and traveling.
John Wall joined Fort Capital in February 2017, bringing three years of accounting experience. As Accounting Manager, John’s key responsibilities include reviewing accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial statements. He is also accountable for onboarding new members of the Accounting Team, including full-time team members and interns.
Previously, John has served Fort Capital as a Staff Accountant and Senior Accountant. Throughout his time at Fort Capital, John has acquired well-rounded accounting experience and was promoted based on exemplary performance. He is an innovative, driven accounting professional who leads by example and is ready to roll up his sleeves to get the job done efficiently.
John is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a BSBA in Accounting and a Sports Management minor. He is passionate about Fort Worth culture, which inspired him to make the move in 2016. He lives an active lifestyle, which includes frequent visits to the Trinity Trails with his rescue dog, working out, and playing basketball.
Associate Finance Manager
Hunter Nurdin joined Fort Capital full-time in January 2018 and currently serves as Associate Finance Manager. In this role, Hunter works directly with Finance, Acquisitions, and Asset Management departments to execute the investment strategy on all assets. His key responsibilities include securing and maintaining adequate debt capital requirements for all investments, assisting in the creation / maintenance of all forecasting models, and assisting the Vice President of Finance in reviewing all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Prior to joining the team full-time, Hunter interned with the Fort Capital Finance / Accounting Team. Upon graduation, Hunter started as Financial Analyst and was later promoted to Senior Analyst. Throughout his time at Fort Capital, Hunter has gained relevant experience working with both Acquisitions and Asset Management teams to underwrite investment opportunities, compose offering memorandums, generate annual operating budgets, and report investment performance to Fort’s Executive Team and Equity Partners.
Hunter graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing golf, hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends/family.
Mitchel Ryan joined Fort Capital in May 2016 and serves the Fort Capital Investment Team as an Investment Associate. Mitchel’s responsibilities include sourcing and vetting real estate investment opportunities in metropolitan areas throughout Texas.
Previously, Mitchel has served Fort Capital as a Senior Analyst, Development Analyst, and Acquisitions / Development Intern. Throughout his time at Fort Capital, Mitchel has contributed his efforts in acquiring over 2M square feet of industrial real estate, acquiring over 70 acres of urban land, capital event decision modeling, construction modeling, as well as debt and equity fundraising totaling over $100M.
Mitchel holds a BBA in Finance from Texas Christian University. In his free time, Mitchel enjoys hunting, golfing, fishing, and snow skiing.
Senior Financial Analyst
Lee Siratt joined Fort Capital as a full-time employee in June 2018 as a Financial Analyst and was promoted to Senior Financial Analyst in January 2020. Before joining the team full-time, Lee interned with Fort Capital in the Finance department. Lee works directly with the Finance and Development departments on due diligence and preparation.
Lee graduated from Texas Christian University with a BBA in Finance in May of 2018. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his family and friends, rooting for the Horned Frogs, and spending time outdoors.
Hannah Davidian joined Fort Capital full-time in June 2019 as Brand Coordinator and was promoted to Business Analyst in December 2019. Prior to joining the team full-time, Hannah interned with Fort Capital in the Marketing department.
Hannah works directly with the Director of Technology and is responsible for executing all critical business processes and technology-related projects / integrations. Her responsiblities also include identifying creative solutions to improve and optimize workflow / processes, delivering critical reporting solutions for all departments, and managing the integration of marketing and CRM systems with operational systems.
Hannah graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with Real Estate in May of 2019. During her time at TCU, she completed study abroad courses in Spain, London, and Scotland. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and giving back to the Horned Frog community
Lorna Heath joined Fort Capital in January 2019 as an Administrative Assistant. While assisting all departments, she quickly found her interest in the transaction side of Acquisitions and Dispositions. In August 2019, she was promoted to Project Coordinator. Lorna facilitates all Fort Capital closings, works closely with title companies and lenders, and assumes a significant responsibility in determining insurance and tax necessities for Fort Capital’s portfolio.
Lorna is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a B.S. in Business Marketing. In her free time, Lorna enjoys traveling with her husband, Ryan, and spending time with their dog, Woodford.
Abigail McDonald joined Fort Capital in October 2019 as an Administrative Assistant, bringing over 15 years of office administration and operations experience to the team. In December 2019, Abigail was promoted to Office Manager. Prior to joining Fort Capital, Abigail was employed by both large corporations and small offices, gaining experience holding positions including Director of Operations and Recruiting Coordinator. Abigail’s responsibilities include managing office needs, onboarding new employees, managing Executive Team calendars, coordinating company retreats, and assisting other departments as needed.
In her free time, Abigail enjoys performing charitable work and attending local events. She also enjoys reading, watching movies, and supporting sports teams of all kinds.
