Chris Powers, Jr.
CEO / CIO
Chris is a serial entrepreneur with more than 14 years of real estate development and investment experience and has raised more than $80 million in equity financing through a multitude of high net worth and family office partners. To date, Fort has invested and developed over $250M in multifamily, student housing, commercial/industrial, and residential & land development projects throughout Fort Worth and the state of Texas. Chris is a visionary with a demonstrated talent in looking ahead at what could be and understanding what must be done today to get there. His ability to conceptualize, raise capital, and execute are only a small part of what Chris brings to the table.
Chris oversees the vision for the company, Fort’s largest deals, capital relationships, executive level recruiting, strategic partnerships, and chairs the investment committee. Creating meaningful relationships and building a team around a vision and Fort’s goals are the most important qualities that make Chris ready for the job. With a belief that investing time in people is the best investment that can be made, Chris has built a strong network throughout Texas that has helped catapult Fort to where it is today. “I want to build a culture that fosters creativity and creates leaders. Our goal is to be the absolute best place to work in Fort Worth, because when we have the best people who are encouraged to give their best – we are unstoppable.”
Powers graduated with a BBA in Finance & Marketing from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. Innovative, ethics-driven, people-focused, community-minded and passionate about ideas that matter, Powers’ professional philosophy remains the same as his personal one: “Tell the truth and be nice to people.” Chris is a member of the Forbes Real Estate Council and Fort Worth YPO Chapter. He lives in Fort Worth, TX with his wife, Mikal, and their daughter, Palmer.
President / COO
Jason Baxter joined Fort Capital in 2015, bringing more than 19 years of DFW real estate industry experience, an acute passion for entrepreneurship and a vision for transforming big ideas into reality. In addition to being President and Chief Operating Officer, Jason serves as a member of Fort Capital’s Investment Committee. As Chief Operating Officer, Jason oversees all of Fort Capital’s land development, land acquisition and planning, financial analysis, modeling and deal structure, operational process development, construction, market research, due diligence/feasibility of projects, and municipality relationships. In addition to his role at Fort Capital, Jason also severs on The City of Fort Worth’s Development Advisory Committee, Urban Infill Development Task Force, and the Mixed-Use Zoning Advisory Group.
Jason developed his skills and knowledge while working for David Weekley Homes before joining Fort Capital, where his positions included senior sales manager, construction manager and ultimately operations manager for the Fort Worth Area. During his career, he has managed the development and sale of real estate assets totaling more than $140 million.
Outside the firm, Jason volunteers for RiverTree Academy and serves as a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). An entrepreneur himself, he and his wife, Charlene, own and operate Glamour Paws pet grooming boutique. Jason and Charlene live in Fort Worth and are proud parents to their son, Austin.
Vice President of Finance
Hunt Woodruff joined Fort Capital in April 2016, bringing Finance and Accounting expertise to the Fort Capital Team. In addition to being the Vice President of Finance, Hunt serves as a member of Fort Capital’s investment committee.
Hunt is a Certified Public Accountant and received his BBA and Master in Accounting from Texas Christian University where he also spent his time playing baseball. He started his career in public accounting with The Big Four accounting firm KPMG, LLP in audit and attestation services specializing in private equity funds, real estate loan portfolios, broker dealers and hedge funds. During his tenure at KPMG, Hunt gained incredible technical accounting and investment company financial reporting experience auditing Texas Pacific Group, one of the largest private equity companies in the world. Hunt was exposed to complex fund investment structures and highly technical investment, valuation, and business acquisition accounting. Hunt left public accounting to expand his role joining Tailwind Advisors as their controller. Hunt was charged with designing, implementing and operating the accounting and financial reporting function in order to increase the timeliness and accuracy of investment and financial decisions.
Hunt lives in Fort Worth with his wife, Katy, and their twin boys and daughter. In his spare time, Hunt enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
VP of Industrial Acquisitions
Steve Wolff joined Fort Capital in April of 2019 as Vice President of Industrial Acquisitions. He will be overseeing all industrial acquisitions and will work closely with the Acquisitions and Asset Management teams.
Steve brings 15 years of combined experience in commercial brokerage and principal investing, first starting his career in office and industrial investment sales at the Staubach Company, which was purchased by JLL in 2008. In 2010, Steve joined NAI Global Investment Service Group where he assisted in completion of over $180M in transactions in just over one year. From there, he joined Pacific Century Holdings in Los Angeles, CA as Chief Acquisitions Officer and Strategic Finance Director. While at Pacific Century Holdings, he led all acquisition efforts for their fund with a portfolio value of $50M.
Most recently, Steve was the Director of Industrial Acquisitions at Westmount Realty Capital where he focused on markets in Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and Southern California. Over the course of his career, Wolff has closed transactions totaling over $1.95B and equaling 11.95M square feet. Additionally, he has raised $104M in debt and equity procurement for private equity fund acquisitions. He is also a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Professionals (NAIOP).
Steve graduated with a B.A. in Studies in Business from Southern Methodist University. Outside of work, Steve enjoys volunteering with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, playing tennis, golfing, and traveling. He and his wife, Corey, reside in Dallas, TX where they are active members of Highland Park United Methodist Church.
Liz joined Fort Capital as Controller in June 2017 bringing a wealth of accounting and legal experience to the team. Liz received her BBA in Accounting and Juris Doctor from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Forensic Accountant with years of experience in tax and finance in the telecommunications industry. Liz spent 7 years of her career in commercial lending managing a loan portfolio of over $50 million in residential and commercial real estate. Additionally, Liz has significant legal and forensic accounting experience in personal and business partnership disputes.
Outside of the firm, Liz spends time volunteering for the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, building homes as a Core Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, and serving as a child advocate for Dallas CASA. She lives in Las Colinas with her husband Robert and their two dogs, Maggie and Madison. They have four grown boys who live in the DFW and Austin areas.
Director of Construction
Steve Bailey joined Fort Capital in January of 2019 as Director of Construction. He will be overseeing all construction activities, as well as working closely with the Development and Asset Management teams.
Steve graduated with a B.B.A. in Management from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has been in the construction industry for 16 years, first starting his career as a Warranty Manager for Kimball Hill Homes. He quickly moved through the ranks and was promoted to lead Construction Manager.
In 2008, Steve made the move to David Weekley Homes where he held multiple roles including Senior Builder, Quality Coach, and ultimately Operations Manager. As Operations Manager, he was able to build cross-functional teams in sales, construction, and warranty to increase efficiencies and lower project costs. Steve was at David Weekley for 10 years before he joined Starside Custom Builders as a Project Manager specializing in luxury estates. While at Starside Custom Builders, Steve managed a variety of multi-million dollar projects from the architectural phase to closing.
Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife, Valerie, and their two children.
Director of Development
After developing a great working relationship with Fort Capital, Shana joined the team as a Project Coordinator in February 2016. She quickly started to implement processes to improve our operations. She also began taking on additional tasks to learn more about our industry, projects and development in particular. In December 2016, Shana was promoted to Development Manager were she lead efforts with architects, engineers, city staff, consultants and more. During this time, she and her team implemented a program called Dealpath which created processes to competently execute on all projects. Recently promoted to Director of Development, Shana will continue to lead her team to efficiently progress our development projects with great communication, organization and enthusiasm. While each project carries its own set of difficulties, Shana utilizes her relationships, knowledge and positive attitude to work through each situation with a smile.
Shana began her career in banking 14 years ago as a teller with EECU. In banking, she occupied a few roles until finding her niche in commercial banking. She developed a passion for real estate in her primary role as a commercial banking lending assistant. Shana’s background aided in developing strong organization and people skills which led to a management role with BB&T.
Shana has a passion for helping others and enjoys volunteering at Rivertree Academy. She loves photography, fishing with her husband and being outside with her two boys, Ian and Bryce.
Director of Technology
Greg Adams joined Fort Capital in June 2019 as Director of Technology, where he is responsible for the planning and execution of digital strategies. He brings a love for new technologies such as cloud computing, blockchain, and machine learning to Fort Capital’s platforms, as well as years of experience in the finance and construction industries.
Greg began his career in mortgages at one of the largest non-bank servicers. While there, he facilitated the work of hundreds of individuals across the globe with database systems and supported divisions through the company’s IPO and quadrupling in size, with assets exceeding $200 billion.
In 2014, Greg left to pursue an interest in green building and joined Tempo, Inc., whose subsidiaries TexEnergy and US-EcoLogic boast the title of largest LEED for Homes providers. Tempo’s energy rating businesses span across the globe, with satellite offices around the United States and projects reaching as far as the Middle East. As Director of Business Information, he designed and built one of the most powerful cloud-based data systems in the energy rating industry. Built on top of the Google Cloud Platform, Tempo’s data platform connects 100,000+ field data collection points to internal office processes and external partners’ systems daily. Additionally, Greg served on Tempo’s Board of Directors, assisting with broader corporate strategy and conducting leadership workshops and technical training boot camps for data analysts.
Greg graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Texas and completed two study-abroad courses in India and Ghana. He enjoys road tripping, camping, playing guitar, and spending time with his wife and two rescue dogs at their Oak Cliff home.
Director of Marketing
Abby Robinson joined Fort Capital in February 2018 as our Director of Marketing. Abby has a passion for creating meaningful relationships between companies and communities and is eager to help spread Fort’s mission to inspire people to be the best version of themselves. She will be leading all marketing efforts, including brand strategy, content development, social media, website management, development/property marketing, and public relations.
Prior to joining Fort, Abby worked as an Account Manager in New York City at several award-winning advertising agencies (mcgarrybowen & DigitasLBi). She gained a breadth of experience developing fully-integrated marketing campaigns with a digital and social focus for brands including American Express, L’Oreal, JPMorgan Chase, and Pier1 Imports. After five years of ‘city living’, Abby decided to make the move back to Texas to work at Southwest Airlines on the Marketing Communications team, and ultimately helped found their Brand Strategy team, bringing with her a driven, strategic, and results-oriented approach.
Abby is a graduate of Texas Christian University with a BBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Management. She is a member of the Junior League of Fort Worth, a TCU Neeley Alumni Executive Board Member, and volunteers regularly at ACH’s Emergency Youth Shelter. Outside of the office, Abby enjoys spending time with her fiancé Andrew, family and friends, and exploring Cowtown.
Joining the team in May 2017, Jenny has used her knowledge and experience to improve the way we manage our Commercial and Industrial assets. As the Portfolio Manager, Jenny is charged with supporting ownership and management’s efforts in the day-to-day implementation of policies, procedures and project timelines. She works diligently to see that each asset is well managed and maintained, all while striving to place maximum emphasis on positive responses to our tenants. Jenny’s skills empower her to diligently work through each project from acquisition to disposition, quickly rectifying any concerns along the way.
Prior to joining Fort Capital, Jenny spent more than 18 years in the financial industry, specializing in commercial real estate. She developed her knowledge and skills through the positions she held: Commercial Loan Processor; VP, Branch Retail Executive and AVP, Project Manager. Most recently, after the birth of her twins, she became a Senior Commercial Loan Assistant and became a licensed Real Estate professional.
Outside the firm, Jenny enjoys spending her time traveling and attending sporting events with her husband, Ken, and four kids.
Kelli McShane joined Fort Capital in May of 2017 as an Executive Assistant (and Fort’s resident Australian!). In addition to assisting the executive team, Kelli’s role at Fort Capital includes acting as a point of contact among the leadership team, employees, and external parties, as well as managing the on-boarding of new hires, overseeing the implementation of new technologies across the company, and planning/producing culture-related events. After moving to the United States in 2002, Kelli started her own personal fitness training business. She also has administrative experience in various industries, including the hospitality industry, which has molded her always-positive approach to getting things done.
Kelli continues personal training in her free time and also loves spending time with her two sons exploring Fort Worth, going on road trips, playing Netball, and spending time with good people.
Senior Investment Associate
Hunter Harrison joined Fort Capital in January 2018, bringing 5 years of industrial real estate industry experience. As a Senior Investment Associate, his responsibilities include sourcing, underwriting and negotiating industrial properties across the state of Texas.
Prior to joining Fort Capital, Hunter lived in Dallas, Texas where he worked for CBRE’s Institutional Properties Group focusing on Industrial and Office Investment Sales. Hunter was a crucial member to CBRE’s National Partners, a National Industrial Platform which successfully closed $40 billion of industrial real estate transactions during his time there. Prior to working for CBRE, Hunter began his real estate career at Invesco Real Estate. While at Invesco, Hunter worked in their real estate valuation team as a financial analyst where he was responsible for the valuation of Invesco’s industrial, office, retail and multi-family assets.
Hunter graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. majoring in Agricultural Economics with an emphasis on Finance and Real Estate. Following his undergraduate work Hunter remained at Texas A&M to further his education where he received his Master in Real Estate from Mays Business School.
Hunter lives in Fort Worth with his wife Katie and daughter Hattie, and enjoys snow skiing, fishing, hunting and golfing.
John joined the Fort Capital team as a Staff Accountant in February 2017 and was promoted to Senior Accountant in October 2018 based on his exemplary performance. John graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minor in sports management. He has worked in the DFW metroplex for three years as a staff accountant. During the last three years John has acquired a very well rounded accounting experience, including work with taxes, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and preparing financial statements. John is an innovative and driven accounting professional with strong interpersonal skills. He leads by example and is one to role up his sleeves to get the job done efficiently.
John is passionate about the Fort Worth culture, which inspired him to move to Fort Worth in 2016. He lives a very active lifestyle, which includes going on the Trinity Trails with his rescue dog, working out, and playing basketball.
Mitchel Ryan began working with Fort Capital in 2016 as an Acquisitions and Development Intern. Throughout his internship, Mitchel focused on acquiring and developing land near Texas Christian University. Upon graduation, Mitchel joined Fort Capital full-time as an Analyst with the Industrial Team. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to Senior Analyst. Mitchel has assisted in closing over 1.7 million square-feet of industrial space, aided in capital event decision making, and executed financial underwriting of office, retail, and multifamily construction projects.
Mitchel now works as an Investment Associate. His key responsibilities include pursuing land and ‘income with optionality’ properties throughout key markets in Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and Austin.
Mitchel graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance. In his time spent outside of the office, Mitchel enjoys golfing, hunting, and fishing.
Associate Asset Manager
Tanner Milson joined Fort Capital in April of 2018 as a Project Coordinator, bringing four years of real estate industry experience. In February of 2019, Tanner was promoted to Associate Asset Manager.
Tanner spent three years in commercial brokerage working for a small brokerage south of Dallas. They were a one-stop shop, handling various tenant rep assignments, as well as land and building transactions. They also assisted in the due diligence and the pre-development process for their clients. He most recently came from a real estate position with a large regional restaurant operator where he handled new site acquisition, lease renewals, and coordination during due diligence.
Tanner is a graduate of UNC-Wilmington with a B.S. majoring in Finance and Management & Leadership. While at UNCW, he was point guard and team captain of the Men’s Basketball team. He and his wife, Christi, and dog, Pops, reside in the TCU area. Outside of the firm, Tanner enjoys volunteering at his church, and spending time out doors with his family and friends.
Kyle Pope joined Fort Capital in May of 2019 as a Purchasing Analyst. Prior to Fort Capital, Kyle began his purchasing career with David Weekley Homes in 2015 as a builder consultant and estimator. In 2016, he began working for Vantage Homes in Colorado Springs as their sole estimator where he helped to shape their standard operating procedures for purchasing, data analysis, and vendor negotiations.
In his free time, Kyle enjoys backpacking trips in Colorado, home brewing, and spending time with his girlfriend, Theresa, and their dog, Lylah.
Hunter Nurdin joined Fort Capital as a full-time employee in January 2018 as a Financial Analyst. Prior to starting full-time, he interned with Fort Capital in the Finance/Accounting department. In December of 2017, Hunter graduated from Texas Tech University with a BBA in Finance.
Hunter works closely with the Finance and Development teams to write investor letters, prepare distribution packets, update/maintain the track record of deals and obtain relevant market due diligence.
In his free time he enjoys working out, playing golf, hunting, fishing and hanging out with friends/family.
Lee Siratt joined Fort Capital as a full-time employee in June 2018 as a Financial Analyst. Before joining the team full-time, Lee interned with Fort Capital in the Finance department. Lee works directly with the Finance and Development departments on due diligence and preparation.
Lee graduated from Texas Christian University with a BBA in Finance in May of 2018. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his family and friends, rooting for the Horned Frogs, and spending time outdoors.
Hannah Davidian joined Fort Capital as a full-time employee in June 2019 as Brand Coordinator. Before joining the team full-time, Hannah interned with Fort Capital in the Marketing department. Hannah works directly with the Director of Marketing on all marketing efforts including strategic planning, creative development, production, and distribution.
Hannah graduated from Texas Christian University with a BBA in Finance with Real Estate in May of 2019. During her time at TCU, she completed study-abroad courses in Spain, London, and Scotland. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and giving back to the Horned Frog community.
Lorna Heath attended Louisiana State University and graduated with a Business Marketing degree from EJ Ourso College of Business. Lorna worked as a Sales Director in the Special Events industry prior to joining Fort Capital in January of 2019.
Lorna enjoys traveling with her husband, Ryan, and spending time with their dog, Woodford.
